SILVER LAKE SAND DUNES STATE PARK

Bordering on Lake Michigan and Silver Lake, the remarkable sand dunes area consists of nearly 2000 acres of rolling sand hills 1.5 miles wide and 3 miles long. Still growing and moving, it's considered one of the largest deposits of living dunes on the shores of Lake Michigan. Most of this region is part of the Silver Lake State Park and is open to the public. Divided into sections, the northern area is reserved for off-road vehicles where you can test your vehicle and your sand driving skill. That’s right, you can drive your own vehicle on the dunes, making Silver Lake the only place in Mid-America where you can do that. All that you need to go is a dune flag available from David Allen Racing and Michigan state park pass and Michigan ORV pass (both passes available at the state park entrance). You can see every type of off-road vehicle running around and challenging themselves on the dunes. Everything from motorcycles, ATVs, 4x4 trucks and buggies run here at the dunes.
